I held off to write a review until my third extended stay visit because the staff is so nice and I felt bad saying anything negative. During my first two... read more stays housekeeping didn’t come in once during that 10 day period and cleanliness was below average; they made some staff changes so the most recent stay was much better. My main issue is they advertise kitchenette, but the small sink, counter, lack of lighting, and mini fridge don’t get the job done. Due to health reasons I need to actually cook and make healthy meals, and because the freezer is hardly big enough for anything, a bunch of my food went bad and had to be tossed out. Also, nothing is provided (utensils, basic cook wear) so it’s a lot of extra stuff to pack. Lastly, the internet is horrible. Unless the router is reset every few hours it doesn’t work, so I’d have to use my phone as a hotspot or call the front desk all the time. The breakfast is nice and I enjoyed the free wellness center passes, but it’s just not worth it and in the future I’d rather stay in Dickinson with actual kitchenettes or on the job site.
June 20, 2023This hotel was for one night on our 69-night motorcycle cross-country trip. We arrived very tired after an unexpectedly hard ride. Our reservation was at their “sister” property... read more but was not going to meet our specific needs. The manager (I sorry that I didn’t get his name) came to us when he saw me talking outside to my husband and asked what he could do to make the situation better. After determining what we were hoping for, he then offered to call the other property and get us a large king room with a brand new fitness center in the same lot (complimentary). This changed the whole experience for us and gave us what we needed to recharge before the next day’s ride. His wife, Angie, could not have been more welcoming. They were truly good samaritans! We have found that type of caring to be a rare quality. We recommend this hotel based on that as well as their cleanliness and comfort! More
June 25, 2021This place is a diamond in the rough. Had last minute travel plan changes and ended up booking here at the Mountain View Hotel on Expedia. I’ve been through Killdeer... read more many times and have stayed down the road at the Cobblestone before. Somehow, I missed this gem.
It reminds me of going to grandmas house as a kid. The decorations are rustic and cozy along with the rooms.
I was greeted by the friendliest of staff, who happily assisted me with my every need (including accidentally deactivating my room key and forgetting to pack toothpaste).
Complimentary bottled water and popcorn in the rooms are always a plus. They also provide free coffee and cookies in the entry lounge.
Breakfast begins at 5 AM for us early risers and the walls are nice and thick so you can get to bed early sleep well!
Easy access to HWY22 and other nearby main highways.
If you find yourself needing a place to stay in Killdeer, ND, I would highly suggest staying here at the Mountain View Hotel!

September 9, 2018This is my 2nd stay at this hotel & I was blown away with all the accommodations. I was welcomed by the smell of fresh baked cookies at check... read more in. The staff was friendly and genuinely interested in my stay. The office, hallways, and breakfast nook are remodeled in a fresh country decor. They also offered free passes to the the aquatic center and gym next door. My room was clean and spacious with a kitchenette. I think my favorite thing was being able to purchase a late night pizza so I didn’t have to leave the hotel. The also had a great sitting area where I was able to get some work done in the morning. If my travels ever bring me back this direction, I will forward to staying here!

I have been working in the Killdeer ND. area off and on since March 2017, I have found the Mountain View Motel more than adequate for my needs which are... read more simple, a clean room, a great breakfast and laundry facilities. The best amenities at the Mountain View Motel by far are the onsite managers Bill and Lynnette Pomerville, along with their daughter Kayla and the rest of the staff, each time I return they have gone out of their way to insure my needs are more than met and that my stay is always a pleasant one. On average I spend 250+ days each year away from my home, until now it has always been in one of the chain motels, I must say it is refreshing to be treated as friend and family using my first name and not being just a room number. Five stars on Bill and Lynnette's warmth and friendliness alone.
June 22, 2017I stayed here for two weeks to start my first hitch in the oilfields of North Dakota. The facilities are nice for a small oil town but what really makes... read more this place SPARKLE are the people. From the owner (Todd Morse, from Fargo) to the onsite managers Bill and Lynnette Pomerville and their daughter Kayla, I was made to feel like family from the first minute I set foot on the property.
The hot breakfast (sausage patties, biscuits and hearty sausage gravy) served every morning truly hits the spot for a country boy like me. Plus the 24-hour coffee pot and freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies put out every evening make guests feel like much more than just an account number in the hotel's reservation system.
The bed linens are super soft, the beds are comfortable and the bath towels are softer than those commonly found at more much expensive national chains (think Holiday, Comfort, etc.).
You can't go wrong here if you're staying in Killdeer.
June 19, 2017Had booked this hotel due to location in travel to Theodore Roosevelt NP. There are few options in the area outside of Medora and Dickinson. The room was... read more modest but clean. Virtually all others staying at the hotel were oil service workers. The stay was surprisingly quiet considering the other occupants. The breakfast wasn't much but there is a very good diner in town that served a great breakfast.
